Refrigerator drain

Hi, everybody!

In 4 weeks I'll be on the boat again, and one subject that is pretty high on the list is to install a drain hose to the drip pan in the refrigerator. Especially in humid environments it will overflow easily if not monitored constantly, and this leads to nasty stains on the woodwork.

My questions: What diameter hose should I take? Can I just route it straight down into the bilge, or do I need a siphon? Any precautions to prevent little critters from entering my fridge from below, or are they just gonna freeze their little buns off trying?

Any help/feedback is appreciated.
