Richard Kollmann

Way back in 2015, I bought Richard's excellent book on refrigeration. I'd like to buy another copy because I cannot find mine, but his website no longer exists and he hasn't been on this forum since August last year. I hope he is okay? Do any of you have any news or update about him?

Re: Richard Kollmann

I hope someone from South Fl. will respond with hopefully good news. Richard's manual was a text reference when I was in school. I always enjoyed his posting hypothetical questions and the subsequent extended exchanges with OzzieLouie and others.

Re: Richard Kollmann

He still shows up in the members list as a Marine Service Provider, identifying him with a marine related business. He last logged into the forum in Aug 22.

Re: Richard Kollmann

He will be missed by all of us amateur refrigerator techs. I learned everything I know about refrigeration from him and I can basically tear down and rebuild a refrigerator no problem lol.

I had a eutetic solution double cold plate system. Very powerful. His book and helpful personal advice taught me everything about these systems. I hope he went peacefully.

Re: Richard Kollmann

I have the final editions of both of Richard's refrigeration books, a yellowing copy of his Kollmann Marine Products. Inc. catalogue, and all of his answers to all my beginner's questions. My 1988 Pacific Seacraft has one of his engine driven / 125V eutectic refrigeration systems that is still running today perhaps 35 years after its installation keeping the frozen food frozen, making ice, chilling the beer, and keeping the lettuce crisp. He was a successful pioneer in the recreational boating refrigeration field producing near bulletproof systems for owner installation from easily obtainable standard parts. He freely shared his knowledge with anyone who asked.

Re: Richard Kollmann

This is not the news that I wanted to hear.

Richard, thank you for all your help over the years. You were amazing.

In the very unlikely event that he has gone to hell, Richard will be the reason that hell finally freezes over. Good on you, Richard
