Salt Water from Hot Water Tank

I recently bought a 2014 Beneteau Oceanis 41. Last week, I noticed that the hot water was salty. Cold isn't...only hot. As I understand things, the hot water tank is heated by coolant after it leaves the engine, not salt water. So, it doesn't sound like the heat exchanger in the tank is the issue. Has anyone seen this problem and know of a fix?
Thanks.

Re: Salt Water from Hot Water Tank

Cannot for the life of me see how salt water can get into the hot water tank.

Re: Salt Water from Hot Water Tank

It would require the engine heater exchanger and the calorifier to both have failed which on a 4 year old boat is highly unlikely.

However, did they connect the hoses up correctly when the boat was built or did the manage to get the hoses all mixed up so saltwater is going to the calorifier?

Certainly something odd., how about buying a TDS meter to check it is salt and not antifreeze you can taste. At £22 it won't break the bank.
