Re: Sanitation hose

Rigid PVC pipe is an option worth considering. No odor now and forever. Joints are fully leakproof, it is cheap and available everywhere.

It is more difficult to install (but will probably never need replacing) and you still need a short flexible connection between the rigid pipe and anything that might flex.

You beat me to it on this, as these were my thoughts as well. The other thing is that it's probably worth reading Peggy Hall's book on MSD's. For some alternative thoughts on things, & other possible options. And doesn't she have a website as well? Either way she's a regular on here.

You can tie this hose into a figure "8".

How does it do when it comes to anti-permeability, & resisting the usual odors that go with so many heads? And if you're actually using it, how long has it been in place on your vessel? Also, how difficult is it to slip onto other fittings & components which comprise a head's plumbing?

Re: Sanitation hose

Peggie recommended the Raritan hose to me. Said she had never heard of a permeation, but it is I think still a little new to be sure.
It is easy to work with in every way, I just got through a couple of months ago replacing everything with it, didn't have to use a heat gun or soap to get it onto any fittings. It is about as flexible as the real cheap pure vinyl stuff WM sells. It's pretty flexible actually.
If In a couple of years it permeates, I'm going to go the PVC route, lots cheaper than the Raritan hose, I believe it is the most expensive sanitation hose there is. I just hope I got what I paid for.

Re: Sanitation hose

If Peggy Hall recommended, that strikes me as a nod from an expert as to it's being worthy of use. And not having to use 101 hose fitting tricks in order to assemble ones MSD plumbing surely would be a welcome change in things.

Sanitation hose

I had conversed with her during the beginning phase of my replacing the tank, vent etc. Vent how big, how to run etc.
Gist I got from her is hose is $$$ but nothing is as flexible and easy to run and she thinks it will hold up well, just will take time to tell.
Hopefully she will chime in as I sometimes don't remember quite correctly.

Re: Sanitation hose

Regarding PVC pipe, every hose-to-PVC pipe connection is a potential clog. For this reason a continuous run of hose is preferred. Keep the runs as short as possible.

Regarding the difficulty getting sanitation hose on most fittings, I have been reducing the outside diameter of the fittings so the hose just slips on. Most only need to be reduced about 1/32" on the diameter.

Even the SeaLand fittings are very difficult to install . But it is very fast to turn these down on the lathe. Then all future hose replacements go easy.

I would agree that the edges inside the fitment would be potential clog points, but then isn't that what the macerator is for, to mush things up so much that they don't clog.

Re: Sanitation hose

when I re did my head this fall I used the saniflex hose and was very pleased with the way it went on the barbs . The white stuff is just a joke in comparison. As for the price if it does what it is supposed to do "Priceless"

Re: Sanitation hose

When using rigid 40mm PVC pipe, how do you couple it to standard 38mm marine flexible hose?
