Shower drain on 1992 Four Winns

Greetings all,

First time Cruiser here...I've owned smaller boats my whole life, but never anything with plumbing!! lol
We just bought a 1992 Four Winns 285 Express Cruiser and the shower drain is not draining. Before I start looking for a clogged line or faulty pump, I just wanted to ask a really stupid question. Should there be a switch to activate the pump?? Or should it come on automatically? The only switch on the panel that seems to make sense is something labeled "Forward Bilge", but I don't think that should be for the shower...any help would be greatly appreciated.

There should be a switch most likely; my switch was just outside the head on the sink cabinet. The circuit breaker switch was labelled "sump" on mine, a 1980 Lancer 36. Wiring was in poor condition after 40 years.

There may or may not be a specifically labeled breaker.

Some have it that way, but our sump activates when we turn on a "Main Battery" breaker on the DC panel... along with some other minor loads like the CO detectors, etc.

You may have a fuse panel, too, perhaps blade fuses, for small loads like that.

And then if your sump is a commercial box, it's likely got a float switch inside to activate the pump when water reaches a certain level. If the float switch isn't working, no pumpee.
