Shurflow wash down pump died though new

I installed a new pentair shurflow 3.5 GPH wash down pump. I had a 20 amp rather than 10 amp fuse in line. It ran for a few minutes. Then I found a 10 amp fuse and installed it. Would not turn on. I went direct, cutting out the fuse. Nada. I’ve confirmed I have voltage. This is my third unit that has gone completely dead. Am I missing something here?

Could be the wiring. Did you measure voltage at the pump terminals with the pump on? Try running your own wire (both positive and ground) direct from a known 12v source.

Could be the pressure switch. Try jumping the switch.

Shurflo is pretty good kit, and its life should be measured in years.

Thanks Don. Voltage is 13.5. I can try jumping the pressure switch but don’t know where that is or how to do that.
I would be grateful for any assistance as I just bought the unit to replace the last which also stopped working. I am sailing to Halifax tomorrow from P town.

Typical shurflo water pump, the pressure switch is very end of the part with the hose connections. Should have 2 red wires. Take them off and short between the two terminals with a short piece of wire.
