Spectra 12v pump PSI & GPM?

Short: what are the PSI and GPM specs of the 12v boost pump? (80psi and ?? Gpm?)

My Spectra 200C has been flawless for over 20 years of cruising. Support has been great too, although nothing has been needed, repair parts wise.
That said, I'd like to Y-valve the 80psi boost pump as a (salt) rode wash down.
So a new 12v pump at ?? GPM and a spare would be prudent. As long as the PSI and GPM meet the original specs, I should be able to get a beefier and or cheaper 2 new pumps? What are the specifications on the Shurflo used on a Spectra 200C?
Thanks.

Re: Spectra 12v pump PSI & GPM?

I think that 200c uses the same pump as the 200T. That pump is rated 1.8 gpm open flow, ~1.6-1.7 gpm @ 90 psig, 125 psig maximum pressure. The Spectra pump is actually pretty specialized, you won't find too many other 12V pumps that can meet the pressure/flow spec, and IME none of them will be cheaper.

I went down this road once too, but the pump for the Spectra is low flow, high pressure and a washdown works better with greater flow and doesn't need all that pressure. That's my experience.

Thanks , Dusanduril,

Good data which even my Gooly search couldn't find. I thought flow might be closer to 5gpm, thinking about 10% becomes Product water and calculating backwards. Thanks so much!

A diaphragm pump, in the 3.4gpm to 5.5 GPM range, meets the needs of most small and medium-sized boats, generally providing pressures in the 35-50psi range.

Groco has a really cool washdown kit (not cheap).
SPO-60-N vane pump, P-9021 in-line check valve and PGN-50 salt water nozzle. Coupled to combination check valve/pressure switch assembly. Mounted on a ready to install platform. Use PST-1 pressure storage tank to reduce pump cycling. 6.5 GPM, PSI range is 15-35.

As it’s given great service over 20 years, I sure wouldn’t do any modifying, many wish they had such good service.
As you have a watermaker you may consider fresh water wash down, I do and I believe it’s largely why my anchor locker never has any smell and my chain seems to last longer without rusting if you wash all the salt off as it gets put away.

Re: Spectra 12v pump PSI & GPM?

The spectra watermakers require the specified psi output. Going to a 30 -35psi pump will not function.
Also it is not set up or designed to be a washdown pump. The 125psi cut off is much higher then a normal washdown pump type. You'd be better off plumbing a Y or T into your hose fresh water system then the shurflow for the spectra

Re: Spectra 12v pump PSI & GPM?

Not a good idea, The 200T feed pump is designed for high pressure and continuous duty. With a 125psi cut off set point, everytime your wash down line is shut off during use by closing the nozzle of sprayer at the end of your wash down hose the pump will leap to 125psi and shut off. These pressures and constant off and on of the nozzle use will wear these pumps out faster than operating them as they are designed in the watermaker. There are less expensive wash down pumps which are designed for this job. Leave your watermaker alone.

Great Replies, thank you all.
So I will be keeping the Spectra boost pump as is. Adding a fresh water wash down line at the windlass of about 45psi.
