We also have a Ventura 150 and can confirm that pickling it is not a big deal (though the SC1 solution in Vancouver is more expensive than quoted above - more like Can$25 from FirstYachts). We usually carry a couple of extra bags with us when we return to the boat which since installation has been located in a Spectra dealer free location..

I should add that water quality improved when we resumed using the watermaker after the first time we pickled the membrane and has remained stable for the past several years at the better TDS than we achieved when first installed. When first installed TDS was typically <300 for the duration of the season. Now it is consistently <200 and has been so for the past 3 years during which time it is pickled annually.

No problem. This is not a Spectra set up but it works perfectly. If you decide on the Ventura150 or Cape Horn Extreme just let me know and I'll show you how to set this up.
