Urea, one of the compounds in urine, makes a really nice fertilizer. So bacteria that was in the container and air will tend to grow quickly. Also Urea breaks down to ammonia which is where that delightful aroma derives from. Sterile means no or really really low cell colony counts, as its really hard to have 100% sterile, least wise on this planet.

As to the bladder not being sterile. Well true, the bladder need not be sterile . but compared to say river or ocean water, urine has a very low cell colony count. Much lower then normal waters its discharged into

Here is an article about how they are working to remove drugs from effluent going into the Great Lakes. Indiscriminate dumping yields zero removal and unknown effects. Currently they claim to be able to remove half during treatment.

I'd think the water cops will be fine with the poop not being dumped no matter how we do it but the liquid's another thing. I think the N in NDZ means no, un uh, nfw. And my composter is a portable toilet which are OK everywhere. But back to the liquid ...

So if I dump my urine down the head sink, how are the water cops ever going to know, are they scuba diving with little test kits under my boat just waiting to nail me, oh the horror of it all.

I have read that it's excellent fertilizer but I don't have enough pot herbal/veggie/ornamental plants to use it all. Wonder how it would do as a sprouting medium? Recycling is my middle name.

Note to NSA/DEA: the above was just a friendly little joke. Heh.

And this is a serious question: I wonder if one should have a log entry to show water policemen why ya don't have 5 gal of pee onboard?

cburger: your post is the issue. We can show 'em the compost but the liquid is the concern.

Blue Man,

I'm giving you permission to Pee in the Sea. Since the whales do it, I can't see that your's could make that much of a difference. And I'm not talking about the human land-based whales.

I've been asking this question for awhile now. The folks I know in Fl don't have desiccating heads. I'm hoping someone has a read on the officials' attitude about pee in a NDZ.

I had wondered with no Y valve to seal, how does Barney Fife deal with that?

Re: Sterile Urine ... Liquid Gold?

We found out one spring that when puppies pee on the lawn, you get faerie rings in the spring because the urine has great power as a fertilizer. So for a while we bottled the urine, aged it, and sold it as faerie fertilizer.

But these days we get a much higher price selling it to people who need to pass drug tests. Go figure.

Throwing away clean urine is exactly the same as pouring money down the toilet.

Faerie rings are about 15-20 ' across and are gateways for the fairys. Nothing to do with puppies pee!.

They are watching you

Why isn't "I pee in the shower" a poll answer?!
