There are also many places here you can swim next to crocodiles (crocs here, not gators) without a fence! They dont normally bother humans but a lady got attacked near Green Island a couple of years ago. The local Kunas tell me its the only attack on a human they know of.

Any chance boiling water poured slowly over the unit would work? Soften the plastic and get some expansion going.

That might help too. Maybe hot followed by cold a few times...like torching a stuck nut.

Anyway, I got it lose a while back, just posting the solution for future reference.

And for future reference: I know of no hardware stores anywhere in the San Blas islands of Panamá. Nearest I know of would be Panamá City.
