Thickness stainless water tank?

Planning to get new water tanks. How thick would the stainless need to be? 10-20 gallon. Will stainless 304 do?

Re: Thickness stainless water tank?

3/8" rotomolded polyethylene will outlast steel--in fact, will last as long as the boat lasts--and also costs a lot less. Ronco Plastics Ronco Plastics marine Tanks (no relation to the VegoMatic Ronco) is your best source for a tank. They make TOP quality thick-walled water and waste tanks for a very reasonable price and have more than 400 shapes and sizes, over 100 of which are non-rectangular, and they install fittings in the sizes and locations specified by the customer when they make the tank. They sell direct too. If you're concerned about a "plastic" taste in the water, that doesn't happen in tanks that are made specifically as water tanks.

Why only 10-20 gals? That's really small for a water tank...
