Unused thru hull

I want to remove a couple of unwanted and unneeded features on my boat, namely a marine washing machine and a dishwasher (I like to cruise but am not a live aboard ). Besides just closing down the thru hull valve should I also leave a small bit of the hose on it that has some type of plug at the end of it or is there a better sure fire way to do this (short of fiberglassing over the plug and permanently getting rid of the thru hull)?

Thanks for any advice.

Re: Unused thru hull

Replace the hose barbed fitting with a pipe plug.
