Used Katadyn 40E Watermaker

I have the opportunity to purchase a used Katadyn 40E for an attractive price. The unit is approximately 10 years old and has not been run for 5 years so I’m assuming I will need at the least a new membrane. It was operating when it was removed and was pickled. It does come with a seal repair kit which I would install but I’m concerned there may be other issues with it. Thoughts?

We bought and installed a PowerSurvivor 40E of roughly similar vintage and history last winter. Has been working without issues. I guess the biggest risk would be that the membrane is busted and needs to be replaced? Those are quite pricey.

We luckily didn’t need to do anything else than to plumb the device in and start it. Today we made some 30l of water while under way.
