valves& co ...

hi all !

I want to operate a waste water tank valve located in a deep and difficult to access cockpit locker, impossible to cross a bulkhead with an extension.
open position: crosses the tank and goes to the sea
closed position: remain in the tank,

I haven't found how to transfer the standard 1/4 turn movement remotely to another lever

What solution, your opinions? solenoid valve? something else ?

:sifflement:

I'm not sure what you mean by " impossible to cross a bulkhead with an extension".

The standard solution would be to remove the handle from the valve, put a coupling nut on the threaded end of the valve stem and then use a threaded rod of the same size to take the handle out where you want it. You'll have to attach the coupling with Locktite so that it doesn't back off when you open the valve.

see https://www.mcmaster.com/products/nuts/?s=long+nuts
for coupling nuts.

You could certainly use solenoid valves, but remember that most solenoid valves will draw current continuously in one position. You can buy diverting valves that only draw current when changing position, but they're around $500 --

thanks Jim !

I explain: on the straight line from the valve to the toilet, best place to install the offset handle, many obstacles ...

Use a 12v solenoid NC valve.

yes, of course, I was thinking about it, but how can be sure to find something very reliable, but which doesn't cost an arm and a leg...

Maximum reliability generally comes from over-built mechanical devices that have the least number of moving parts, (like an anvil).
That said, look at Morse/Teleflex push-pull cables.
Also peruse the McMaster-Carr catalog for rods/shafts/clevis/couplings/U-joints/levers/knobs, etc.
