transitive verb
To expose to sunlight.
Not to be confused with:
insolent – presumptuous; arrogant; impertinent
insulate – protect from heat or electricity

It's used in solar heating (or explaining why your boat heats up so much quicker on a sunny day than your house does.) In those cases, insolation is the amount of heat being absorbed from sunlight.

I couldn't find any other definition in a brief review of on-line dictionaries.

(I don't mean to imply anyone is confusing it with the other two words listed. I just added them because the first one is kinda fun to use, and the second one would be a natural misunderstanding when seeing the word.)

Spelling mistake on my part, try insulate or insulation.
