Watermaker storage

What commonly available chemical solutions can be used to store a (Spectra) watermaker for a few months in the tropics. Either powder or liquid. My understanding is that Spectra’s SC-1 is unavailable in Europe because they won’t disclose the chemical composition.

What common retail products have “food grade propylene glycol”?

Is SC1 Boric acid or Sodium metabisulphite?

I am in Panama, with limited time to source SC1

Re: Watermaker storage

Propylene glycol is most commonly found in "non-toxic antifreeze" used to winterize potable water systems. Not likely to be found much in Panama... Commercial food refrigeration service companies might have some, because it is used as a chilling fluid in food processing equipment.

Here is the MSDS for SC-1

Boric acid it is...

If I remember correctly (and it has been a while) Spectra specifically recommends NOT using Na-metabisulfite, it is incompatible with some of the plastics used in the clark pump.
