Watermakers: hard/soft water issues

Curious if anyone ever has any hard or soft water issues in the water produced by their watermakers.

If so, how do you deal with those issues?

Re: Watermakers: hard/soft water issues

shall be interested to see what the others say, however mho is that water ex a w/m is pure h2o so cannot be either 'hard' or 'soft'

as i understand these terms, they relate to levels of alkaline salts in the water, and water ex a w/m has zero so must be neutral

cheers,

Re: Watermakers: hard/soft water issues

"Hard" water is so called when it has higher dissolved levels of minerals (generally calcium and magnesium). "Soft" water is just the term for water lacking these, though it may also indicate higher sodium.

Since seawater has low calcium the resulting RO water feels soft. Slightly higher residual salt than terrestrial water may also be a factor. What TDS are you getting from the WM?

In general our water feels a bit soft but not objectionable.
