So why not gasoline heaters?

Truly, using a metal fuel line and proper ventilation of the compartment would make it safe. Why don’t we have gasoline fuel heaters that pressurize and inject a little spray of gasoline the same way the modern diesel heaters do?

With a fuel shutdown based on lack of flame like propane appliances do.
Anybody who has used a gasoline-fired immersion heater in an Army field kitchen will tell you: It ain't called "immersion face" for nothing. When the flash-point is reached, it really flashes.

How about a natural gas furnace running on propane ...

Re: We have propane heaters. Why no gasoline/petrol heaters?

The thread came to a logical conclusion on my end despite coming back to life :

If it’s good enough for the FAA and operation on a plane, it’s good enough for my boat and installation as described in the thread.

No irrational fears here.

Don't think planes have bilges and certainly not with non-ignition protected equipment.

Wow. Rarely do you miss a beat. You’re usually right on the money and accurate about just about everything. Especially things ABYC and safety related.

How are you forgetting you already signed off on this installation earlier in the thread?

If you’ll scroll back to refresh yourself, the installation has no bilges or need for ignition protected anything.

I know with boats selling like wildfire right now you must be missing a lot of sleep trying to keep up with the survey demand, so I’ll just assume you’re tired.

Comparing boats to cars and air planes is nonsensical and the "No irrational fears" comment disturbed me as in the last photo I posted I see a lot of "irrational" installations in boats.

Your boat if as described is likely fine. My experience suggests that most boaters are either ignorant or stupid and encouraging them to play with propane, alcohol or gasoline is dangerous.

Yeah. I’ve actually seen every one of these pics having read your site and many others “cover to cover”.

Now I get it. You may have thought I was responding to you. I wasn’t. I was responding to the raft of people with irrational gasoline fears. As you know, it’s all in the installation.

But again, you’re right. Probably not a good idea to encourage any gasoline installations because invariably someone will jury rig something like in your pics and blow themselves up.

Re: We have propane heaters. Why no gasoline/petrol heaters?

Whats wrong with a 12 volt heater that they have in cars,
I just bought one for my boat,
It has three pipes on it so I can direct the heat to where I want it,
Two into the salon and one into the bedroom,
It puts out 600 watts,
Works on a cig lighter connection,
I have 500 watts of solar and a wind genny,
No risk of explosion,

Cigarette lighter outlets are usually rated for 15 amp - except the ones rated for 10 amps. If it truly is 600 watts that is over 50 amps.

You're correct, no risk of explosion, just fire.

I doubt they are actually 600 watts.

Post the specifications.

This is about as effective as an “air conditioner” you plug into your car cigarette lighter and fill with water.

I take it you must live very close to the equator or have a 2 meter boat.

You can’t seriously be from Melbourne and have a Gemini cat and think a cigarette lighter can heat even that cat.

I only need it to take the chill out,
It will do, for what I need it for,
Its an alternative to some thing that has a lot of problems,
FUEL THAT EXPLODES,
