Re: Well that's disgusting

My Dragonfly water tank has a clear acrylic top.
The inside is visible by rolling back the V berth mattress and I can clean it by removing a bunch of s.s. fasteners.
The only thing I've ever needed to remove has been a bit of sand.

The municipal water storage tanks look far worse than your water tanks, lots of green sticky goo, out of sight, out of mind. I live on collected rain water, with no city water supply, my tanks have a layer of black stuff on the bottom, I just live with it. Keep the water slightly alkaline by adding a bit of crushed marble or linestone, and make sure no light gets into the tank. Water tastes much better than mainland water.

Re: Well that's disgusting

I tackled one like this. On first boat. Clean with bleach mixture and vacuum out. Once tank appears clean add water / bleach mixture and run through all lines till you smell the bleach coming out each fixture. Then let sit for several hours..... mean time I remove fixture heads and soak in buckets ssoerately. After few hours of bleach in lines start running water without fixtures so any organic material will flow out and not clog fixture.
Or if easily done you can just replace all hoses.

Good luck, be patient and you will get this.

Can you slip a large plastic bag inside there, and fill the bag with water? Just swap out the bag once a year.

If it drains out the bottom, then this would not be a great solution likely, although you might be able to get it to work.
