Wet end issue on March Pump

Need troubleshooting advice please.

We have an AC setup that has worked for years with an LC-5C-MD pump. The water stopped flowing so I disassembled the intake strainer and wet end from the pump. The impeller would not rotate so I replaced the wet end, reassembled, started pump and bleed the air out of the system.

Now the wet end works only intermittently. Most of the time the just the pump runs, but not the wet end. Occasionally the wet end turns and you can see water moving in the strainer and the ACs will work, but after an hour or so the water stops being moved and the AC units error out.

I'd appreciate some ideas and insights before I break it down again. I can't sort out what problem I'd be looking for or what to replace at this point. Thanks!
