1970's Tiawan built Pulpit question (Tayana 37)

So I recently discovered cracks on my pulpit. Took it to a couple of local welders and one was really confused as to where the cracks were located. Ran a bead and the color was off from what it should have been.

They had a few possibilities with chrome plating being one of them. The other was the use of 305ss. We did do a magnet test with zero pull.

Hoping to salvage the pulpit since the overall condition seems quite sturdy.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: 1970's Tiawan built Pulpit question (Tayana 37)

Our pulpit got into a tangle with another boat (I wasn't driving.) and got badly bent. We had the welder bend it back and weld new tubes inside several problematic spots. Nothing visible and no issues since.
