Adding a mizzen topmast staysail

I'm interested in adding a staysail between the mizzen and main above the mainsail. Does anyone have any experience of this or would it overpower the boat? (Fisher 30)

We had a mule for an H-28 we sailed. Fun to talk about. Less fun to set or take down. Even less fun to tack or gybe (tacking or gybing means taking it down and re-setting it; the boom is curved, not a wishbone). If you plan on holding a reach for a LONG time (and the wind cooperates) it can help. No good upwind (in the backwind from the main) and not as easy to use as a mizzen staysail that tacks to the deck. Great conversation starter though. Or ender.

Ok... can someone explain to me please...

a) why are they flying that sail while at anchor? (And no... I can’t see it as a riding sail)

b) why have they strung their outboard up in the rigging? Is it to serve as a warning to other outboards as to what will happen if they misbehave?

So much I don’t understand about boats.

The Fisher is a fairly tender boat, an extra sail aloft wouldn't improve that.
