Re: Adding Rope Clutch to Mast

I've been thinking about sliding a heavier aluminum backing plate up the mast (1/4" thick) with a string, and holding it in place with strings in two holes while 3M 5200 sets up. Then drill and tap for the Rope Clutch. I think this would work for a long time.

I did something similar. Plate on outside and held with rivit inserts.

I know some don't like the rivit inserts but it's been OK for me.
