Alpha Ropes?

Anyone have experience with Alpha Ropes DCup, DCore? Any good? Comparable to Liros, Marlowe, etc.? I had never heard of these but apparently popular in Southern Europe. We are trying to buy whole set of running rigging for a large cruising boat, and we have been offered this. Grateful for any comments.

Re: Alpha Ropes?

looks like one of many rope manufacturers. They use DSM Dyneema, so their starting point is the same. From there it's all a matter of quality control in the braiding process, coating quality, and cover braid quality.
The real test of a rope (for me), is how easily it splices: the best ropes will be a breeze to splice, since the ratio of cover-to-core will be perfect. It's hard to achieve, and for core-dependent rope, my favorites (best first) are: Yale, Maffioli, Marlow. I have not spliced Lyros, Lanex, or Kaya (three other lesser-known brands), but hope to soon.
If you're having them professionally spliced, then the rigger can sweat about the splicing, and your only concern is price and quality, which as I mentioned earlier, their dyneema core is the same everyone else uses.
