Amiot Traveler Rebuild

I have a 1988 Beneteau Oceanis 430. The traveler is the original Amiot so it’s no surprise the cam cleats are shot. I have not read anything about rebuilding but only replacing the traveler. The original car is in good shape and the fasteners attaching the I beam to the cabin top as well as the control end fasteners are frozen. Stainless to aluminum over 30 yrs. Anyway, I had to drill out the bolt holding the Control ends to the I beam. I found replacement cam cleats from another post on this forum. I also had to drill out the bolts holding the cam cleat ton the control end. The new cam cleat has more height than the original so it does not fit where the old one sits. I fabricated an offset from aluminum and bolted it to the control end with stainless bolts and locknuts. Then bolted the new cam cleat to the offset with 10-25 bolts and locknuts. I used a Dremel to cut and mill the plate. Click image for larger version

Re: Amiot Traveler Rebuild

Nice bit of fabrication. However, I compared the force to move a Harken traveler to the original in my Beneteau, and it was one of the first upgrades I made in 1994. The Harken system has never needed maintenance.
