Ancient Harken furler

Greetings,

Have "Unit 2" Harken genoa furler on 38ft boat circa 1990.

1. How do I inspect stay wire/swages? If I disconnect the whole thing, will I be able to remove the wire so that I could put the whole back together again? It seems to me the top swage will not pass through the foils
2. How do I replace swages with Sta-lok? Do I need special fitting from Harken which the manual is referring to?
3. Stupid question. Is a keel stepped mast supposed to stay up if I loosen backstay and disconnect headstay or will it fold?

Thanks

Re: Ancient Harken furler

IIRC, you can not remove the foil, from the forestay, without removing either the fitting at the head, or tack.
