Wow. Sorry folks got their panties in a knot. As a former boat builder and a professional Captain for over 35 years I have always been interested in correct terminology and nautical history. The hardest part of for anyone learning to sail has always been learning the correct nomenclature, however when sailing with novices I often say “pull the blue string, rather than trim the Cunningham”.
