Anyone recognise this gooseneck?

Hi,

Trying to confirm if my mast is Kemp (or not), by seeing if anyone recognises this gooseneck? It’s on a 1976 Shamrock 30.

thanks,

stuart

Re: Anyone recognise this gooseneck?

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Stuart.

FWIW: THIS particular 1976 Golden Shamrock 30, designed by Ron Holland, built by Southcoast Boatyard, in Cork, Ireland, has a Kemp single spreader mast, and Kemp boom.

Re: Anyone recognise this gooseneck?

Thanks Gord.

Yes from the pics in that ad, the mast profile looks very similar to mine. So I’ve checked the old Kemp and Selden mast profiles but still finding it difficult to find a good match for my mast’s size & shape. Mine is 165mm long and approx 110-120mm wide, with what could be an oval profile. I’m reasonably confident of the accuracy of the 165 length measurement, but the width could be +/- as I just flipped the 1/2 tracing to make a full profile picture.

Below are pics from the Kemp and selden docs. Nearest match with Kemp appears to be their oval section 170/115. Nearest match with Selden appears to be E section (round aft face) 162/104, or E section (10 degree aft face), 170/115.

What do you think, any of these may be it?

Thanks
