Around boom furling system

Now before I go on I know a lot of people dislike the system full stop but we have it on our 50ft cat, we have modified the system slightly with a boom bag and lazy jacks so that we can just drop the main if we like or roll it up, sounds simple, the reefing side of things we like as it's just easy and neat with a fully battened main but there is one issue to which we don't seem to able to get right as when we just like to drop the main into the boom bag the main just won't drop on its own and has to man handled down which sometimes is a real chore, pulling up by hand is a piece of cake goes up easily but it just won't drop easily, so I'm taking a stab in the dark that someone here may have had some experience.

Wash and lubricate your sail track and maybe refit with new slides.. its normal for the last 1/4 to struggle with the diminished weight of the sail.
