Not sure I fully understand this post - perhaps talking about a setup without a stack pack?

If your lazyjacks are fouling your halyards or reefing pennants, (or anything else) they are set up wrongly. That just should not happen.

Lazyjacks can / will foul your battens when raising the mainsail unless the sail is properly head to wind & you are quick about raising it (which is why your LZ lines need to be long to let you bring them forward to hook under cleats near the gooseneck so you have that option if you need it).

I have never had them foul the sail when lowering it though. Cant see how that could happen?

Re: Best Lazy Jack System for 30' Pearson, single-hand?

I'm afraid all this tightening, loosening and adjusting is gonna be more work than just going without, although sometimes it is kinda dangerous getting on top of the coach to tie off the sail to a swinging boom. which is the reason I installed the Lazy Jacks. We have forecast for strong winds again this weekend . I'll go out and practice some more. My main problem is raising. the trysail on the separate track.

I hope I'm not overriding the OP. Yes, I am referring to a setup without stack pak. I think I will go down and get some photos to post later today

Yep - entirely possible, but it is nice to just drop the sail & forget it for a while when entering a busy harbour.

Which is why I installed them also - sailing with a young family crew.

Don't understand. Why is that a problem?

OK maybe this will work. I can use the snap for the reefing eyelets on the trysail pendant and pull the LZ lines over to the other side. Right now I’ve hooked them on a shackle for my boom preventer. I just wanted to share my experience installing new Lazy Jacks and the problems I face
