black mast

I'm rebuilding my mast and thinking of painting or vinyl it in black.
I suppose that it will be hotter specialy if I'm sailing in the caribean but I would like to know from someone that had one how much does it affects

Trying to make people think you have a carbon spar? It would certainly make it hotter to touch.

I’ve had black spars and white spars on beach cats.

I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I’ve never burnt my hands on the white spar when stepping it in August.
