Canon Winch

From memory they were a company that made winches and steering gear some thirty years ago.

Try Arco...

You might like to give Arco winches a call.
They might be a compeditor or a successor.

Re: canon brand winches

Sorry to resurrect an ancient thread but this is the only place I can find on the web with a reference to Canon winches!

We've got two Canon 15s on the mast of a 23-foot cat. I took them apart today to discover the pawls and springs are interchangeable with Barlow winches (also long out of production but parts still made), and I think the bearings are too although I'm waiting to check. I know nothing else about them sadly.

Re: canon brand winches

Nope, bearings are a different size (30 mm diameter instead of 35).

From Boat Genealogy - Ken Mascord:
In 1976, I was invited to join Norm Casey in racing his Peter Cole design East Coast 31, Canon, in the offshore events out of MHYC. Norm was running a small business manufacturing winches and other yachting equipment, so Canon, was set up as a showcase of winches.
