Cape Horn removable mast steps

Does anyone have experience with the removable mast steps sold by Cape Horn?
Any problems/issues with uncovered holes in the mast?
Opinion of suitability for 220 pounder
with size 12(US) shoes?

Re: Cape Horn removable mast steps

I had the stirrup style fixed mast steps on a previous boat. Felt pretty secure. These “open” steps would not instill a secure feeling .......just my opinion.

Re: Cape Horn removable mast steps

Thanks for the reply.
I want to avoid the windage and line snagging potential of permanent mast steps and was thinking these could be a viable alternative.
Of course everything on a boat is a compromise.
Having never seen these particular steps in person, I thought I would seek the advise of those that might have experience with them.
I currently have a polyester ladder that hoists up the sail track that requires finagling my toes into the steps and has a bit of stretchy bounce to it. I was thinking the steps would be a bit more solid.
I would prefer if they had a bit of “side rail”, so to speak, that would help prevent the foot from sliding off, but I’m not a fan of trying to aim my toes into holes.
