Commissioning referral for Punta Gorda, FL

Shipping my Jeanneau 349 to Punta Gorda at end of the month. Can anyone recommend a good local yard and rigger in that area?

Unfortunately, resources for sailing yachts are somewhat limited in that locale. The only yard that I am aware of in the area that might be able to help you is:

Gasparilla Marina
15001 Gasparilla Rd
Placida, FL 33946
United States (US)
941-697-2280 toll free: 800-541-4441: Fax 941-697-4444

Another alternative is to recommission an launch the boat in the Tampa Bay area, say at Snead Island Boat Works in Palmetto, and then sail her down as its an easy trip.

FWIW...

I may be wrong (which wouldn't be unusual) but if I recall correctly, Charlotte Harbor Marine is associated with Burnt Store Marina and is focused on powerboats. They do have a travel lift but as I recall it is (or was) limited to 9500 pounds or rather less than the 12K lbs displacement of the 349. N'any case, if you've got it covered, good for you. The 349 is a great boat and the locale is a good venue for sailing/cruising. I'm sure you'll enjoy being there abouts.

Thanks SVHylite. The other yard is Safecove, almost across the street from CHBS. CHBS website adverts a 30 lift.

Anyone have a preference for either yard?

Re: Commissioning referral for Punta Gorda, FL

I connected to a local rigger service provider by name of Ray Bradford of Gulf Coast Rigging apparently with deep experience. Anyone had occasion to use this service?

Any others you would suggest?
