Regarding abrasive particle size, you should know this but the larger the abrasive particle, less precise fit. Pretty basic.

But whatever, use your Comet if it works for you or whatever. I don't care.

Corrosion Stainless vs Aluminum

I have developed a method to add threaded backing plates to a mast, in case the threads are too damaged to reuse. See www.svbeatrix.com/articles.

IIRC colloidal silica (cabosil) is actually used in toothpaste, soft icecream etc.
