Country of Origin for Standing Rigging

Having read through virtually the entire rigging forum I noted that there were a lot of warnings about being careful of the country of manufacture for stainless standing rigging wire/cable. So, when I asked our rigger for a bid I suggested that I would like US made materials wherever possible. I was told that no one in the US makes stainless steel cable any more and was told that the Korean cable has not given the company any trouble. I guess I'm looking for a reality check here... anybody have info on a US or Canadian source of stainless wire for standing rigging for a 42' sailboat? If not, any recent opinions on the Korean wire? Need to get this sorted as we hope to depart on our longterm cruise this fall and no way am I leaving with rigging that is 10-20 years old. Thanks, as always!

Re: Country of Origin for Standing Rigging

Hi,
The Koreans produce good wire, no doubt about it. If you use a reputable rigger for your re-rig the chances are he will have good wire.
Arcus Wire in Australia and Stalok in England both sell KOS wire from Korea. Both Arcus and Stalok sell only top of the line products.
Good luck and happy sailing. David
