Don't know for sure, and Chotu did not specify, but Chotu may be looking for an inexpensive solution vs. the Harken and other brands $2000-$4000+ electric winches.

I’ve had my eye on this thing for years. I feel like that part in the back that is supposed to be bolted down would get in the way if it were vertical. I guess maybe I should go into my local Northern tool and check the thing out.
