I did not check all lines but in the 1/2" size I was looking for, the only apples to apples I could see between the sites was for Sampson LS Yacht Braid and WM was .78/ft and Defender was .89/ft.

The other comparison I did was between Sampson XLS Yacht Braid and New England ropes Sta-set Yacht Braid. I have no idea if these line are comparable but the stated breaking strength of the 1/2" N.E. Rope is 9200 lb and the Sampson Yacht Braid is 8300 lb. My assumption is the N.E. Rope is a better line because of this?
Maybe not, but at Defender the Sampson is $1.24/ft and at WM the N.E. line is 1.20/ft for an arguably better line.

Maybe I am lucky the size I need is cheaper at WM, but only during this sale. It could be every other line is more expensive at WM but this was the extent of my comparison.

You might look for a commercial chandler. Buy a reel. They generally won't question your being commercial or not.
