Emergency Rigging

Has anyone thought to use a stainless steel ratchet puller for emergency rigging? So you can quickly adjust the size and tighten?

Re: Emergency Rigging

No, I would carry a length of dyneema that can be adjusted by tying a knot loop that can be tensioned by taking the bitter end around the connection back through the loop a couple of times to give purchase. If necessary the spinnaker halyard could be used to add further tension. I would not want to rely on a ratchet unless purpose built/engineered for the task at hand.

Look up bale hitch aka truckers hitch and Spanish windlass.
Any length any time no hardware required.

Re: Emergency Rigging

It would do in a pinch, but it's a lot of weight and bulk to carry around for a "just in case" scenario. Better to have a length of dyneema you can splice to length and tighten with a lashing to get you home.
