I looked for a 28 volt but did not find one. Is yours 18 volts? I found on my first try it would not bring in the 90% jib the last 10 inches in about 18-20 knot wind. Are you using the 18volt version?

Charles, ours is the 28 volt model. Depending on your winches, the new 18 v model is reported by some to be adequate. I have no experience with such, and won't comment.

There have been rumors that the 28 v line has been discontinued, and for sure they have never been available in Australia. Again, no knowledge on my part.

Good luck in your search!

Jim

Re: Experience with electric winch handles

I'll second the 60V Dewalt right angle drill with the Harken bit. I watched a pair of riggers go up and down masts about a dozen times (more than one boat, including mine) in one day without changing batteries and never having the drill bog down. I asked them about it and they loved it. Said they had upgraded from an older Milwaukee. I bought one and like it a lot.

Easy google search. 28 volt has way more torque and reserve power.
