Re: 'Eyebrow Awnings' for Portholes

We made ours using white neoprene foam sheet 1/8" thick, cut a 2" wide strip, rounded ends. glued 1" into the upper hemisphere of the recess of the port. The protruding inch kept the rain and runoff out, and it was flexible and neither lines, nor fenders, dock pilings, dinghies could break them.

Probably best use quality neoprene. We found some neoprene decomposes too quickly in the sun. There must be different grades or actually different materials around.

We just installed the Port Visors on 13 of our 15" ports.

Installation was a breeze, they look great and have already proved themselves in the frequent showers we've been getting in Miami. In addition, we can use the Port Fans that Hotwire puts out with these visors and boy, what a difference the combination makes.

If this is a product that you're interested in, you really should take a look into the Seaworthy Port Visors.
