Faxnor RX300 Genoa Roller Furler

I own and live on a Beneteau Oceanis 50 in singapore. I bought her new 4 years ago.

I am having a problem with my Facnor RX 300 genoa roller furler.

About two months ago, when furling it in, it started to get so tight I was unable to pull it in. This was in the middle of the Malaca Straights. What fun.

I have since taken it down and checked all the parts. It turns freely now without the sail. However, when I put on the genoa, I can only pull it in around 3 wraps and it tightens up again to the point where I can furl it in further.

Has anybody had this problem before? If so, how do I fix it.

New to this forum, and hoping for some help.

Thanks in advance!

Richard

Sounds like something that would happen to a recoil starter..just a thought ..is it a correct analogy?same principle?
