Forespar whisker pole - UXP or UTP end?

We're planning to buy a whisker pole tomorrow, but have never used one or sailed on a boat with one. We're getting a Forespar LC 10-18, but it comes with two potential outboard ends - UXP or UTP.

I'm having a hard time finding information on the difference between the two ends. As best I can tell, the UTR has a "trigger" on the end with an internal trip line. We like to keep things very simple with a minimal amount of fiddly bits that can break, so for that reason alone I'm leaning towards the UXP but I thought I'd check here first to see if there are any advantages or disadvantages of one over the other.

Thanks.

Re: Forespar whisker pole - UXP or UTP end?

I've got a spin pole with the UTR end (or similar from Forespar with the internal trip line). The line exits the pole towards the mast-end, through a slot with sheaves. I really like having the pin release where I can get to it. Having the release line run externally to the pole seems like a snagging problem. Your best option might depend on the size of the boat and pole.

Reviving the thread after 5 years with a similar question. Trying to figure out the difference between UXP or UTP endings. @Cthoops where did you land with this?

Prefer the UXP because I can trip it easily from anywhere.
