Help in identifying this windvane

Hi All,

I have a friend that has a very well built windvane that was dropped off at his boat. It has no makers marks on it, I'm wondering if it was a prototype? It has cast aluminum parts and heavy duty stainless tubes, it's built much stronger than current makes.

Fair winds and thank you!

Re: Help in identifying this windvane

It looks very similar to an Aries, perhaps an earlier generation of one. A google images search of all the known brands might yield a match. Keywords:
Hydrovane
Aries
Monitor
Plastimo
Fleming
Sailomat (definitely not)
Autohelm (unlikely)
Give it a try--if nothing else, it's a fun way to waste an hour...

Not a Monitor or Hydrovane for sure. Has some Aries features to it, but not all Aries.
