Hood Seafurl 3250 vs new

The Seafurl 3250 on my 1990 Catalina 34 has worked well since I've owned the boat. She's been in fresh water her entire life. My rigger suggested replacing it while replacing standing rigging because of labor savings to install new vs. labor to remove/reinstall and lack of spare parts if something is damaged. I'm guessing a new furler will cost me a net of $1300-1500 with labor savings and sale of 3250 on eBay (a new Harken MKIV Ocean Unit 1 is $2200 at Defender).

My question: Am I likely to notice a significant difference with a new furler vs. the old? I'm less inclined to replace a working piece of equipment if I can expect no difference, but a significant improvement in operation or features will help with the cost.
