How best to add a cover to Dyneema reefing lines etc.

Ok, so it’s getting close to time to replace reefing lines. I intend to use a plain Dyneema (or clone) line, perhaps 8mm or so. I’ll splice an eye into the boom end to loop around itself.

Now I will need to add a cover, so that I can put it through the clutches and winch it in. I’ll probably only need a couple of metres of this if I get the measurements right.

Is there a recommended way or a tutorial from one of the resident rope experts around? Seaworthylass or someone else?

Use Premium Ropes’ technique shown in this YouTube:

It shows how to add a cover to double braid, but the technique is the same. I make the taper longer than shown though, more like New England’s taper shown in the section on “Tapering The Cover On High-Tech Ropes” in this pdf:
