Inspecting Chainplates

I’ve replaced most of the chainplates and padeyes on my boat but the one in the photo was particularly difficult to get to - until it snapped off. Fortunately, there was no related damage and no one was injured but it could have been a catastrophe. It took 35 years for crevice corrosion to destroy this padeye (it’s made of 5/8” round stock) but a smaller one might go more quickly.
