Re: Installing a deck box

I bought an Outhill deck box from https://www.cheetahmarine.co.uk/. It fits just fine in front of the mast, is big enough for 3 propan bottles and all the mooring lines and is also comfortable to sit on. It's made of fibre glass and I bolted it to the deck. I will make steel backing plates as well.

Re: Installing a deck box

We added a deck box to our stern. It was a somewhat standard size 4' wide box and works well for sitting on also. I would guess the narrower boxes are about the same height. We bought ours at a second hand marine store. It is a simple fiberglass box. There were some small cracks in it that I repaired. I would recommend bolting it through the deck and using oversized washers as a bare minimum for backing plates. Screwing it down would not be strong enough if you take any serious water over the bow.

Re: Installing a deck box

Thanks for all the suggestions. I appreciate and will keep them all in mind. After considering the issues with a deck box, I may be better off stowing my stuff below or in cockpit lazarettes.
