When I re-bedded some genoa tracks a while back, some excess bedding compound squeezed its way into the pin holes when tightening the fastnings & if left, would have stopped the pin going the full depth.

Just a maybee....

Are you sure the cars were made for the track? I've seen more than one old boat where if you can get the car on the track and it doesn't immediately fall off it's considered a fit.

Well, as far as I know both the track and cars are original, and in fact this problem has developed relatively recently.
