Lewmar Ocean 46 electric winch installation

If anyone has one, please look at the attached pic and tell me if it is not seated properly. There seems to be a bit of a space between base and bottom of drum. Everything seems to work ok, but unsure...looks weird.

Last question: while putting the arm back on, one of the 2 collets went swimming. It seems to work fine. Are the collets redundant?

Thanks.Click image for larger version

Mine is a 45, and it looks just like your photo. Been fine for 6-ish years.

Ge a new collet. They keep each other in place I assume.

Re: Lewmar Ocean 46 electric winch installation

Update: Thanks for everyone's inputs. Here's what I just received back from Lewmar:
"The installation looks fine to me based on it being electric. In regards to the collets, they pretty much keep the drum on the winch, if one goes missing or breaks, it is recommended to replace it but you could forego it untilthe beginning of the season next year if you like. If you have any further questions feel free to email me back or call our Tech Support Line."

There should never be any force on the collet, so you could say they are redundant, however it would drive me nuts every time I saw the winch, and as expensive as that thing is, get another one just so it looks right

The collets are typically for preventing the drive spindle from being pulled out from the top.You should replace them or you may find yourself with a winch and no way to crank it ! After all, if a collet went "swimming" then who's to say that other parts might as weLL ?
